Challenge
Bostik brands and the associated adhesive and sealant products are tried and trusted by millions of DIY and prof essional users around the world. The reception area at their Staff ord offices was undergoing some improvements and Stair Nosings were required for the deep drop terrazzo nosed stairs leading off the reception area.
Bostik has a target to have accident free sites across the globe, with the UK now being over 1600+ days accident free. Therefore, in an area where visitors as well as staff would be using the stairs, safety was an essential consideration. However, as a customer facing area smart and professional image was also needed in the reception area.
Solution
The most suitable solution proved to be Quantum Flooring Solution’s QR-HF153, with it’s deeper riser height, this Heavy Duty Stair Nosing was also suitable for a thicker gauge floorcovering such as carpet.
Part of the innovative Q-Range, this Stair Nosing has the patented all over tread design providing extra safety with a slip resistant surface from the nose to the back edge.
The choice helped Bostik to be compliant, using the Building Regulation best practice solution of polar grey tread material, which creates a consistent band of colour to define the step edge. The satin etched aluminium risersurface provides the double benefit of being scratch resistant, making it hard wearing, plus inhibiting the potential for ‘glare’, which is part of the guidelines applicable to stairs in areas of Public Access. All these features aid Bostik’s safety targets.
The interior design considerations of the office’s reception area were not compromised either with Q-Range providing an aesthetically pleasing solution.
