Cembrit’s Contessa Slates Provide Flawless Finish For New Homes In Weymouth Beauty Spot

30 Nov 2015
Case study

Cembrit’s Contessa natural slate have been installed on 23 beautifully designed and high specification homes in Dorset, just a few miles from the seaside town of Weymouth. Built by Linden Homes, the new build properties offer commuters a quiet haven between Weymouth and Dorchester.

Located on the south coast of England, in an area renowned for its natural beauty, Lorton Gardens is situated near Lorton Meadows Nature Reserve. The development consists of three and four bedroom detached and semi-detached properties, six affordable homes, dedicated parking spaces and an open wildlife area. While it is set in a peaceful, semi-rural location, the development has attracted many commuters due to it being within walking distance of a main line railway station.

Dorchester-based roofing contractor, Weatherbury Roofing installed 25,000 blue/black Contessa slates on the new build properties. Specified for its attractive, natural finish, the slates complement the picturesque surroundings. Contessa slates have a textured surface, which helps to create a traditional-looking home.

“We’ve installed Cembrit slates on a number of other projects in the past,” comments Simon Coleman, Contracts Manager for Weatherbury Roofing. “We’re always impressed with the look of these slates, and knew that they would suit this project perfectly. We enjoy working with Cembrit natural slates as they are easy to handle, cut and lay – three very important aspects of a roofing project.”

Contessa, one of the UK’s leading specified Spanish slates, is produced by some of the most efficient quarries in Spain. This natural slate is available in blue/black and grey and comes in a variety of sizes.  With its textured surface, an attractive and long lasting roof can be achieved. They are strong enough to withstand weather conditions and are unaffected by sunlight, ultraviolet light and acid rain. Contessa slates will last the lifetime of the building.
