Charity Skydive for Neuroblastoma

23 Apr 2015
News

On Sunday 19th April, Hansgrohe Customer Service representative, Lindsey Nevin, took to the skies to raise money for 2 year old Ruby Laura Young who is battling with an aggressive childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma.

Raising Money for Ruby

Ruby’s Granddad, Steve Jay, is a Technical Manager at Hansgrohe and should have taken part in the skydive himself, but unfortunately suffered a heart attack last week. Recovering well, but not quite fit enough to leap from an aeroplane, Steve’s colleagues rallied round and five put their names forward to take his place. Lindsey Nevin was the heroine of the hour and at 8.30am at an airfield in Headcorn near Maidstone, readied for take-off. She comments, “I was incredibly nervous but also really excited to be taking part in the skydive. It is for an amazing cause and was a great experience”.

Ruby’s family has already raised over £236,000 for the cancer’s charity NCCA UK to help Ruby, and other children like her, to undertake expensive treatment. The charity also sponsors research, and promotes education and awareness of neuroblastoma.

Ruby’s story in full can be found on her Facebook page: www.facebook.com/pages/Help-Ruby-Laura-Smash-Cancer. Lindsay was one of a team of 11 of Ruby’s family and friends who formed the skydive team and are hoping to raise £5,000. They have already raised over £3,000. www.justgiving.com/skydiveteam.
