Rockfon® Mono® Acoustic is installed to create unique acoustic ceiling designs in the refurbished headquarters of both building services engineers Max Fordham, and A+DP Architects – both long established expert practitioners in the field of construction and interiors.
Quiet comfortable spaces
Successful London based Max Fordham know a thing or two about how to achieve excellent acoustics in office environments. As part of their office refit, they chose our monolithic ceiling for meeting rooms and relaxation areas, as Senior Partner Anthony Chilton explains, “We were looking for a smooth, white seamless ceiling which could provide as much sound absorption as possible. We hold regular social events when our communal areas are packed with people. Before the installation, it was difficult to make yourself understood. The new ceiling has reduced the noise levels and created comfortable spaces.”
Seamless clean lines
Rockfon Mono Acoustic is nothing less than a revolution. It brings together the seamless clean lines associated with traditional plastered surfaces and the performance characteristics thought only possible with modular suspended ceiling and wall systems. Its refined white monolithic surface is able to successfully control reverberation by offering Class A sound absorption. Ideal for any size of space, it can be installed on sloping, flat or curved surfaces either in a suspension grid or mounted directly on existing ceilings or walls. The system is suitable for renovation projects as it complements the character and original architecture of historical buildings.
Reverberation control
West Yorkshire based practice A+DP Architects have been delivering bespoke architectural designs for more than 40 years. Founder Russell Earnshaw specified Rockfon Mono Acoustic for their newly refurbished office reception and meeting room. “We had fitted out our reception with plastered ceilings and walls, and ceramic tiled floors. Our receptionist has significant hearing loss and wears hearing aids which pick up unwanted background noise. The reverberation level in the room was such that she found speech almost unintelligible. We decided to install a Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling raft, which kept the same smooth white minimalist appearance and significantly reduced the reverberation time so that, now, hearing for our receptionist and others is no longer a problem. Visitors are very impressed with the finished result, particularly the seamless integration of the perimeter LED lighting.”
The ceilings in A+DP’s office required a bespoke solution to create the clean lines and minimalist aesthetic. An acoustic raft is fitted in each area, finished with Mono Acoustic’s Elegant render. The surface is extremely bright and offers 99% light diffusion and 87% light reflection. This combination leads to a uniform and regular spread of light in the reception and meeting areas. Research has shown that comfortable lighting helps improve the personal performance and wellbeing of employees.
Certified installation
One of our certified installers, Pacy and Wheatley, has worked on many projects with Rockfon Mono Acoustic and installed the ceilings in both offices. Director Craig Wheatley has this to say about the projects, “As always, it was a pleasure to work with Rockfon Mono Acoustic. We achieved a high standard of finish in both offices and the clients are extremely pleased.”
Seamless integration
The system allows for easy incorporation of lighting, air conditioning, ventilation systems and inspection hatches, and it offers Class A2 fire protection. The tiles are dimensionally stable at up to 100% relative humidity and can be installed in temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C, allowing installation before windows are fully sealed. All our products are backed by a 15-year guarantee and are fully recyclable.
