The University of Stuttgart has announced the completion of the Landesgartenschau Exhibition Hall. This Exhibition Hall is the first ever building to have a main structure made entirely of robotically prefabricated beech plywood plates. It has been made possible by the use of computational design and robotic fabrication. The combination of these construction techniques alongside simulation and surveying methods, have resulted in achieving a load bearing structure which is only 50mm thin. The highly resource efficient dome-shaped structure uses only 12 m³ of locally sourced beech plywood whilst having a total volume of 605m3. To find out more click here.
