Overlooking Tower Bridge and City Hall on the Thames river, 7 More London Riverside is a 650,000 square foot shell and core office development for the new London headquarters of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Specialist insulation distributor, Kitsons Beckton supplied over 5000m2 of Promat SUPALUX® calcium silicate board to fire protect the lift shaft walls and risers in the development for up to 60 minutes.
Promat SUPALUX® Shaftwall, which was installed by appointed sub-contractor Fireclad Limited, is specially treated to provide enhanced moisture resistance and was chosen due to its ability to be installed prior to the building being water-tight. This allowed other trades to start their installation quicker and accelerated the entire building programme.
In addition, Promat provided over 1500m2 of Promat TL Board® for thermal upgrading of the underground car park area. Promat TL Board® is a combination of Promat calcium silicate board and phenolic insulation and has been designed for the thermal upgrading of semi-exposed concrete decks. Due to the thin construction of the system there is minimal height loss and the calcium silicate board provides a high level of impact resistance and light reflectance compared to cementitious substrates.
7 More London is the first commercial building in London with BioDiesel Combined Cooling Heating and Power Plant and offers excellent environmental and BREEAM rating.
Tim Wright of Fireclad Limited commented “Promat are a clear choice for passive fire protection due to their extensive portfolio of fire protection products and sales and technical advice throughout the project.”
