Promat Launches New Passive Fire Protection Handbook

26 Aug 2009
News
Promat, the UK’s leading supplier of passive fire protection materials, has launched an updated version of its Passive Fire Protection Handbook.

The Passive Fire Protection Handbook is designed to be a single source of information for passive fire protection products and systems for architects, specifiers, building contractors, specialist fire protection contractors, structural engineers, risk assessors and risk managers, fire control officers, specialist insurers and distributors of insulation products.

The 288-page handbook provides authoritative guidance for passive fire protection relating to many elements of construction including structural steel, compartmentation, cavity barriers, smoke barriers, fire resistant glazing systems, ventilation and ducting and service enclosures. Systems are referenced by third party certification (Certifire), assessment or test report and accompanied by illustrations to provide users with a visual guide.

As well as including new application information for Promat’s established range of products including Promat SUPALUX® and Promat MASTERBOARD® calcium silicate boards, the new handbook also includes for the first time information on Promat DURAWALL®, Promat TD Board®, Promat CAFCO Spray products and Promat PROMATECT®-B.

Promat Managing Director, John Stevenson comments:

“The Passive Fire Protection Handbook represents a substantial investment for Promat, taking over 18 months and significant resource to bring to publication. This demonstrates our continued commitment to providing the market with a complete and robust technical package for passive fire protection.”

All aspects of passive fire protection are covered including the principles of fire protection and up-to-date industry guidance in this area. The latest edition includes 80 new amended drawings which are precisely rendered, the latest available regulatory information and a section on third-party certification.

First published in 2003, the new handbook is available for free on request. Call Promat on +44 (0) 1344 381350 to request a copy, or visit our new web site at www.promat.co.uk to download a digital version.
