The £200m development is being project managed by Wates Group and will eventually provide over 2 million square feet of office, leisure and retail space, including a 4 star Holiday Inn hotel. The underground car park level of the hotel has been insulated with 86mm thick Promat TL Board® which is installed to the underside of the concrete decks. On completion the site will provide 1500 parking spaces, all at underground level.
Promat TL Board® is a calcium silicate board, bonded to phenolic insulation and is designed to be fixed to the underside of concrete floors, achieving U-values of 0.20W/m2K or better. Promat TL Board® can be fitted to the underside of a floor or to a supporting framework where the surface is uneven or otherwise unsuitable.
There is an increasing requirement for the thermal upgrading of semi-exposed concrete decks both in the conversion and refurbishment of existing buildings and in new build constructions. Site developers Segro Plc are targeting carbon reductions of 40% below those associated with an equivalent building designed to 2006 Part L standards.
Graeme Waugh of specialist sub-contractor GSI Contract Services commented, “As well as the functional benefits of Promat TL Board®, these systems provide excellent design aesthetics and are easy to install and maintain. Promat Sales and Technical advisors have been on hand throughout to advise us on the system design and installation.”
Promat TL Board® is BBA certified (Agrément Certificate 09/4646) and does not use CFC’s or HCFC’s. It has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 5 and therefore benefits from an enhanced BREEAM rating.
