Victorian Woodworks Serves Up A Timber Treat For WAHACA

7 Apr 2010
News
Masterchef winner Thomasina Miers and business partner Mark Selby have recently opened their third Wahaca site at Canary Wharf’s Canada Square. The 5,500sqft 150-cover restaurant with upstairs terrace bar, will serve the same Mexican street-style food found at Wahaca’s two sister sites in Covent Garden and Westfield shopping centre.

An exciting dining experience is assured at Wahaca, therefore it was essential that the interior design portrayed equal flair and innovation. Renowned for providing some of the UK’s leading hospitality venues with inspirational timber solutions, Victorian Woodworks were called upon to fulfil the Wahaca brief.

By adopting a ‘different style approach, with sustainability in mind’, Victorian Woodworks supplied 116 sq metre Antique Reclaimed Original Face White Slaked Lime Pine Boards for installation as the wall cladding. The result was a durable surface with rustic appeal, offering an interesting back-drop to the restaurant.

To conclude, Reclaimed Dense Pine was chosen for some of the staircase treads and risers.

Phil Wilson of Victorian Woodworks said “We were delighted to utilise our extensive knowledge of ‘all things wood’ on this project. The reclaimed timber wall cladding is simply stunning, and certainly ‘sets off’ the restaurant interior with a relaxed, yet modern ambience”.

Victorian Woodworks offers a vast range of timber solutions to complement any traditional or contemporary environment. Due to their unequalled expertise, the natural beauty of timber is not restricted to floors, with many installations enjoying timber feature walls and surfaces.
