Xtratherm sponsor BDA’s ‘Supreme Winner Award’

Xtratherm, a leading manufacturer of high quality PIR and phenolic foam insulation, sponsored the Supreme Winner Award at this year’s Brick Development Association (BDA) annual awards ceremony. The event was held at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, London on 18th November. The Awards recognise excellence in brick design and construction and each year 15 prestigious trophies are awarded, with a further ‘Supreme Award’ going to the overall winner.

Kerry Westlake National Sales & Marketing Manager of Xtratherm says: “We are proud to be involved with the BDA and its awards. The event reflects our commitment to supporting traditional building techniques and materials such as brick and the craftsmen who use them.

"Xtratherm has invested heavily in product innovation and has pioneered the development of engineered solutions to improve insulation performance. Our product development is backed by comprehensive training for builders and installers so they acquire the up-to-date skills and knowledge to use insulation products effectively in traditional brick-built homes and buildings”.

This year the Supreme Award went to the Metropolitan Arts Centre, ‘The Mac’, in Belfast. The building was designed by Hackett Hall McKnight Architects and built by brickwork contractor Grove Builders Ltd. One of the reasons the judges selected the building is for its use of natural light, with one judge stating: “It feels almost external when you are wandering through the internal spaces of the Mac”.  Simply a “fantastic building”, stated another, such a wonderful framing with “brick centralised as the most dominant feature”.
