Developed by Blackdown Greenroofs in the late 1990’s ‘Greenroof by Blackdown’ was one of the first substrate based sedum green roof systems produced exclusively for the UK market. Today, many hundreds of thousands of m² of Greenroof have been installed across the length and breadth of the UK: on roofs of all shapes, pitches and sizes and in new and refurbishment applications.
Consisting of three main components – fleece laminated drainage/retention board, Vulkatec growing medium and planting – this built up on site green roof system typifies extensive green roof construction. Planting can be achieved through a pre-grown blanket, plug plant installation or hydroseeding with cuttings and/or seed.
