IKO Spectraplan TPE – high quality reinforced TPE roof systems
Exclusive to SIG Design & Technology, IKOs Spectraplan TPE (Thermoplastic Polyolefin Elastomer) roofing systems use the very latest in advanced polymer technology. Incorporating a range of membranes and accessories, these next generation TPE systems combine the best performance characteristics of thermoplastics (e.g. PVC) and elastomerics (e.g. EPDM). This ensures optimum results during both installation and in performance.

BBA approved to provide a service life in excess of 20 years, the Spectraplan product range comprises four membrane types:

  • Spectraplan SM is suitable for mechanically fixing;
  • Spectraplan SG is fleeced-backed for adhered applications;
  • Spectraplan D is specially engineered for complex detailing;
  • Spectraplan Walkway offers a slip resistance surface

A comprehensive range of accessories is also available.

Spectraplan membranes are highly resistant to UV ageing and the action of ozone does not cause surface erosion. Standing water does not have any detrimental or leaching effects and this ensures a very long life expectancy.

On-site, Spectraplan has a very broad ‘thermal welding range’ which minimizes its operational sensitivity. This is determined by the excellent flow behaviour of the TPE polymer which can be welded at high and low temperatures to allow for both fast installation and intricate detailing. The result is a homogenous, reliable weld that is even stronger than the roofing sheet itself.

The membrane system offers exceptionally high chemical resistance to any organic and inorganic substances and solvents. As it’s compatible with both bitumen and polystyrene (EPS/XPS), TPE is suitable for most refurbishment applications and doesn’t need a separation layer.

Movement within a building’s sub-structure can usually be accommodated and usually needs no special detailing due to Spectraplan’s long-lasting, high degree of elasticity. It offers high resistance to fatigue and point loading. The elastomer within the membrane has a unique memory effect, so the roof’s surface retains a sleek taut look without putting any strain on the membrane.

These membranes are free from plasticizers, (H) CFCs, halogens and heavy metals and due to the nature of the polymer; they can be recycled into primary products at the end of their long life span.

Roofing contractors wishing to install Spectraplan TPE are vetted by IKO, who strictly control the product’s approved contractor and installer network.
